Make a Lasting Power of Attorney
What would you do if, as the result of illness, accident or old age you became incapable of managing your affairs and business, how would you keep control?
The Mental Capacity Act 2005 provides ways in which:
• People can plan ahead for a time when they may lack mental capacity.
• Decisions can be made on behalf of people who lack mental capacity.
Though existing Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPA) made up to the end of September 2007 remain valid, and they cover your property and affairs.
Lasting Powers of Attorney, available since October 2007, provide cover for your property and affairs, your personal welfare and medical treatment; although at this time BTWC LTD only provide Lasting Powers of Attorney for your Property and Affairs
Make a Living Will.
Legally known as an Advance Decision, a Living Will enables you to stipulate, as far as possible, the point at which you wish to refuse treatment and to appoint others to be consulted by doctors in uncertain situations. In many cases, a Living Will may be preferable to a personal welfare LPA.
These are just some of the ways in which we can help you take control of an uncertain future by being decisive now.
